One2Shop: Making e-Commerce Fast and Easy for Today’s Market

Contrary to what you might have read or heard, the oldest profession in the world is none other than trading. And thanks to the Internet, its impact on our lives only gets bigger and bolder every year. There are a lot of e-commerce websites that now cater to the needs of online shoppers everywhere. Surprisingly, there are none that cater specifically to the tastes and wants of Filipinos.
Enter One2Shop, the newest e-commerce destination for Filipino online shoppers located all over the Philippines. Up until now, the bulk of the "online shopping malls" available in the country have been mostly foreign. But with One2Shop, these e-commerce websites will finally have the much-needed local touch that users will love.
According to a recent research conducted by Google, more than half of the population in the Asia Pacific region prefer to shop through mobile apps. Meanwhile, over 40% like to use their browser to visit their preferred e-commerce web sites. This is also very reflective of the recent Black Friday shopping spree where 40% of the purchases were all done online.
The opportunity to capture a meaningful portion of the market is definitely hard to pass on, especially since the coverage of shopping sites just keeps on growing.
One2Shop aims to grow right alongside the growing e-commerce market, harnessing the power of both the web and various social media channels to better engage its target audience.
One2Shop’s advantage over competing digital platforms is its use of the latest high-tech solutions available for e-commerce websites. Its back-end is built on top of Amazon Web Services, and it relies on various social media channels and advertising networks to deliver its content and offerings to its users.
One2Shop will first be available through its official web site,one2shop.com, and then through the One2Shop mobile app for Android.

Sleep your way to good health

Sleep is the most underestimated activity. Most of us see sleep only as a means to rest and would easily give up sleep in order to stretch our day. In fact sleep is vital in achieving good health.
Understanding the importance of sleep, LifeScience Center for Health and Wellness introduces its signature Sleep Analysis and Consultation. The analysis and consultation is geared towards helping individuals sleep their way to good health.
"Most of us take sleep for granted and don't fully realize how sleep impacts our well-being," says Dr. Denise Lavilles of LifeScience Center for Health and Wellness. "Beyond getting our body to rest and regain physical strength, quality sleep supports mental and physical health, and affects quality of life. How we feel and perform throughout the day is affected by how well we slept. It is during sleep when our body is working to support vital functions of the brain and organs. Sleep also helps our cells regenerate," added Lavilles.
Sleep deprivation affects us physically and mentally. Lack of quality sleep makes us feel constantly tired, less productive, moody, react slower, making us prone to mistakes and accidents. Mentally, it affects our cognitive function, making us unable to properly focus and retain information. Our risk for chronic disease also increases with chronic sleep deprivation.
"Because of being constantly sleep deprived, having a restful sleep eventually becomes a challenge and may lead to unhealthy habits and dependency on sleeping pills. But sleep issues can be addressed." says Lavilles.
The LifeScience Sleep Analysis and Consultation tackles sleep issues through a multi-disciplinary, scientific and proactive approach. “It is vital to recognize the basic underlying factors affecting and causing sleep problems, in order to determine the appropriate steps needed to sleep better. We cannot simply just keep treating the symptoms. Sleeping pills, for example, may help for a brief period of time and under a doctor’s supervision. However, insomnia cannot be cured with sleeping pills alone. They can actually make insomnia worse in the long run. Sleep is such a dynamic and relational process – it has to be understood in relation to everything else.”
"As unique individuals, sleep issues can be caused by so many things, such as occupational and lifestyle factors, as well as physiologic and biologic alterations, like hormone changes and nutrient deficiencies. Because of the varying influences and types of sleep disorders, a personalized and comprehensive approach is key in addressing sleep issues down to root cause," stressed Lavilles.
The first step is to find out more about the individual during and beyond his sleep through traditional and advanced methods such as comprehensive history taking, actigraphy, heart rate variability, 24-hour salivary cortisol/melatonin, nutrient and metabolic profiling. Once this information is available, your Physician will map-out a treatment plan that lets you fully understand what issues affect your sleep. A more thorough understanding of how your body works empowers you to be more involved in getting your restful sleep back.
For more information on the Sleep Analysis and Consultation or to book an appointment for Sleep consult, visit lifescience.ph or call 848-LIFE (5433).

Blogpost 0020: PHAREX ensures every loved one's safety with every medication

The idea of close family ties is widespread among Filipinos as evidenced in their habits and practices. Filipinos value the concept of extended families with in-laws living in one household or overseas workers who overcome loneliness in order to support the family or of caring for the elderly members at home instead of packing them off to a hospice for the aged. But more importantly, family members care about their loved ones’ health as much as they care of their own.

Filipinos show concern for the people they love most, especially the elderly, by taking care of them when they are sick. Health concerns are usually discussed with the trusted members of the family for motivation to recover and further assistance. Indeed, oftentimes, family members come together in nursing a sickly member back to health or when paying medical bills.

Other than ensuring that their loved ones’ health are monitored, family members actively see to it that medical regimens are maintained so that they get well, expenses do not get aggravated or hospitalizations are minimized or avoided altogether.

In order to help Filipinos take better care of their loved ones, Pharex HealthCorp—the most prescribed unibranded generic medicines—has long advocated the importance of adhering to prescribed medication. This is why the Pharex 15-day Compliance Pouch or Pharex CP15 was launched. This innovative product aims to assist patients to better adhere to their treatment regimen.

“We see how individuals put importance to family and their health. And with this, we want people to know that Pharex is one with them in the care for their elder family members,” said Tomas Marcelo Agana III, President and CEO of Pharex.

The company has been in the service of Filipinos for more than 25 years, showing sincere concern for their families by providing anti-infective and chronic care drugs, as well as, vitamins.

“In line with our support to disseminate the essence of compliance, we make sure that our medicines are affordable and accessible without compromising on quality. This is our mission: to promote strict compliance to medication for recovery and a better quality of life,” Agana added.

Pharex CP15 are all available in any leading drugstores. For more details, kindly contact 433-8088 (local 820).

Blogpost 0017 : PLDT: Why technology helps you to become a better mom??

Modern-day mom Regine Velasquez on peace of mind at home: “Technology helps me become a better mom.”

Nate Alcasid sporting his favorite gadget, the Smart Watch from PLDT HOME

Regine and Nate enjoy bonding over the Telpad

Moms are super women.

Aside from being the driving force of the household, many moms also play different roles in the work place and in the community. They are the ultimate multi-taskers, often having to sacrifice ‘me’ time for the sake of the family.

Balancing multiple responsibilities is a challenge, even for the toughest moms, but what’s probably most difficult is achieving peace of mind especially when they have to be away from the young ones.

What’s a mom got to do?

The answer is technology. These days, smart gadgets and high-speed internet can empower moms to be in control of the family’s safety and security.

Just ask Asia’s Songbird and modern-day mom Regine Velasquez – Alcasid. Mom to four-year-old Nathaniel James, more fondly known as Nate, Regine exemplifies the modern-day Filipino mom who strikes the balance between her hectic work schedule and her role as a family woman.

“Technology helps me become a better mom,” she revealed. “Specifically, I get a lot of help from PLDT HOME.” Regine, who is also an ambassador for the brand, added, “They have a suite of products and services that are designed to give moms like me peace of mind through the power of technology. So far, super helpful talaga siya for me especially when I have to be away for work.”

Forefront of strongest connections at home

As the leader in digital innovations for the home, PLDT HOME designs its products and services to help parents like Regine effectively multi-task while ensuring the safety of their families. Two products which promote peace of mind among working moms are the Fam Cam and Smart Watch.

The Fam Cam is a home monitoring system which allows parents to check on their children remotely, and even communicate with them. The Smart Watch, a personal favorite of Nate, is a multi-functional gadget which kids can use to take photos, play music, and even record voice messages.

According to Regine, they use the Smart Watch to easily talk to Nate because he can directly answer calls using his watch when it is connected to their Telpad or a smart phone. The Alcasids also use it as a WiFi remote for the Telpad or smart phone cameras so it’s easier to take selfies or groufies wherever they are.

Regine also shared how the watch helps teach Nate to become more responsible and aware of his surroundings. Nate’s Smart Watch can come to the rescue using the anti-lost feature. He simply has to click on a button and the connected device will make a sound so it can be located. The Smart Watch will also vibrate if Nate goes more than 10 meters away from the paired device so if the Telpad or smart phone is with Mommy Regine or Daddy Ogie, it will remind him to go back to them.

“Nate really loves his Smart Watch,” Regine said. “As a parent, this is a gadget na approve sa akin kasi I can really see that it helps us bond better as a family.”

New members of the PLDT HOME family

Following his mother’s footsteps, Nate was recently launched as the new ambassador for the Smart Watch.

“We’re very excited to have Nate on board,“ PLDT VP and Home Marketing Director Gary Dujali said. “He represents the kids of his generation—perennially curious, smart and dynamic. Together with his mom, we look forward to reaching to more families and educating them about the ways technology can help bring them closer.”

Regine added, “Siyempre, I’m super proud of my baby boy! PLDT HOME is close to our hearts and as a family, we are proof that technology can really help make our lives safer and easier.”

PLDT HOME subscribers who upgrade to a Telpad plan automatically get a free 1Mbps HOME DSL speed boost, and for only an additional P199 per month, they can already top up with a Smart Watch. The watch is also available to existing Telpad subscribers. Simply order online and it will be delivered for free. For more information, visit pldthome.com/telpad/smartwatch.

Event 009 : Unmasking Your Thyroid

THYROID - is a butterfly shaped organ and is composed of two lobes, one on the right and the left as the wings.
                                     - It weights 2-3 grams and 25 grams in adults and is increased in pregnancy.

How important is thyroid?
The thyroid plays an important role in all this our activity. It has something of a managerial position. Without the thyroid bossing everybody around, lots of work around wouldn't get done - or at least wouldn't be up to quality standard.
The thyroid main job is to produce two very special hormone. They both have deliciously unpronounceable names, but luckily, they also have abbreviation. The first is triiodothyronine and the second one is thyroxine (or tetraiodothyronine). but to their friends, they're known respectively as T3 and T4.

Did you know that according to a study by the Philippine Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in 2012, one in 11 Flipino adults has goiter, and around one in 12 Flipino adults suffers from some form of thyroid disorders?
Millions of Filipinos are affected by problems with their thyroid, yet awareness of this disease is very low. The symptoms of thyroid disorders are often mistaken for other disease, or worse, are ignored by patients with the disease.
To raise awareness of thyroid disorder, Merck Inc. held a bloggers event at the Holiday Inn Makati.
Merck is the world's oldest pharmaceutical and chemical company with headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. They are the leading science and technology company that works to further develop technologies that improve and enhance life - from biopharmaceutical therapies to treat cancer or multiple sclerosis, cutting edge systems for scientific research and production, to liquid crystals for smartphones and LCD televisions.
Dr. Nemencio Nicodemus, Jr., who is the President of the Philippine Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, as well as Professor in the UP College of Medicine and the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health, gave an informative talk on what the thyroid is, including the symptoms of thyroid disease.

Patients with hypothyroidism, or too little thyroid hormone, tend to have slower metabolism: they gain weight despite not eating lunch much, move and speak slowly, feel tired and have depressed thoughts, cannot tolerate cold, and have irregular menstrual periods. On the other hand, patients with hyperthyroidism, or too much thyroid hormone, will have hyperactive metabolism: they lose weight despite having a good appetite, have heart palpitation, irritable thoughts and insomia, have sweating and heat intolerance, and can have tremors in their hands.
More information can be found online in the website www.thyroid.ph This is an online information where people can learn more about thyroid disorder. The website also contains useful guides which can help people check themselves for symptoms of thyroid disorders such as goiter, hyperthyroidism, or hypothyroidism.
There are lot of people who might have thyroid disorder, but are not even aware until it's too late. It is important to have one's thyroid checked as early as possible. especially if there are family history of the disease, or during pregnancy. Prevention , proper information and early detection will always be better than cure.

20 Important Facts You Need to know about Thyroid

  • The butterfly shaped thyroid gland is located in the neck. Hormones produces by the thyroid direct calorie consumption, oxygen usage, digestion, the brain and neuromuscular function.
  • More than 27 million have some sort of thyroid disease. About 13 million have no idea they suffer from thyroid imbalance.
  • Typically, women are prone to thyroid issues than men.
  • Thyroid disease becomes more common as we age.
  • The thyroid secretes three important hormones - thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), and calcitonin. T3 and T4 are the thyroid hormones responsible for our overall metabolism and affect almost every cell in our bodies. Calcitonin helps regulate calcium stores in the body and also directs our bone building process.
  • Iodine is essential to form both T3 and T4.
  • T4 is essentially the same structure as T3, only it has an extra iodine molecule, which makes it the inactive form.
  • The conversion of  T4 into T3 occurs mostly in our liver but also in cells of the heart, muscles, gut and nerves.
  • T3 affects nutrients absorption from carbohydrates and fats,  the rate of protein creation, rate of food digestion, muscles building, oxygen utilization in cells and energy production efficiency   in the cells.
  • Most thyroid hormone in the bloodstream is bound to protein carrier molecules. It is the unbound (or free thyroid hormone) that exerts its effects in our cells.
  • Thyroid hormone production is controlled by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland.
  • Dopamine, a neurotransmitter, stimulates the hypothalamus to release TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) and thereby influences T3 production. It is made from the amino acid tyrosine, so consuming good quality proteins is important to both thyroid and brain health.
  • Stress is a major factor that adversely affects the thyroid.
  • Hypothyroidism is an underproduction of thyroid hormone, The most common form is an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Symptoms include fatigue, sensitivity to cold, excess weight gain, poor circulation, dry skin, loss of hair, depression and poor digestion.
  • The overproduction of thyroid hormone is called hyperthyroidism. It causes increase in metabolic rate, sensitivity to heat, restlessness and anxiety, goiters, and weight loss.
  • Iodide can be replace by fluoride ad chloride which may result in the inability  to produce T4.
  • In hypothyroidism, HCI (hydrochloric acid) production is reduced resulting in malabsorption of nutrients, undigested proteins, and digestive complaints.
  • Many thyroid abnormalities are seen during times of fluctuating reproductive hormones such as pregnancy and perimenopause.
  • Many blood tests for thyroid only test TSH. However, a more comprehensive panel will shed more light into one's thyroid function by testing free T4, free T3, reverse T3 (rT3), TSH, and TPO (thyroid peroxidase antibody).
  • Important nutrients for the thyroid are iodine, tyrosine, B vitamins, vitamin A, selenium, zinc, and the essential fatty acids to name  few.

Entry 001: "Change The Way You See Friendship"

Dogs are called "Man's Bestfriend
and yes indeed.
For many families, people and kids, their dog is a daily part of their family. Dogs welcome us, they are happy to see us and they are known for their loyalty which indeed I found in my dog.

My friendship with my dog started back September 2011. When my boyfriend bring home a dog which his friend gave to him because they doesnt want him anymore because his left eye is blind. Its not just a plain type of dogs but it is a breed they called Pitbull. At first I was so scared of him because of the misconception and labeled that was put with pitbulls. Pitbulls are labeled by some people as vicious and dangerous kind of dog because when they bite the jaw also lock. But how could you not love this little guy.... Does he look dangerous??

There's  this dog that stole my heart, and calls me WOOF (Mom)....

As day pass by I started researching about pitbulls and how great they are. Ive found out that they are once know as being a nanny dog because they are good with children. I did not know that I also started to love and like him. I started to teach him tricks and gave him treats whenever he would obey and follow my instructions. Sometimes I displine him by talking to him eventhough I know that he would not understand what Iam saying. But in my heart I felt a special connection and bond between us. As he grew up I can see how well mannered he is, that whenever he would do something he would look at me first and its like his asking for my approval. My dog "JUN PYO" as I name him because of the Korean Drama which is "Meteor Garden", I have a huge crush on the lead actor and when that dog came to us thats the first name that pops out of my mind.

When you have a dog, no matter how bad your day is, there is always a happy face and love waiting for you at home

He might be just  ordinary dog to some people but I found a friend in him. Sometimes when I have a problems I find myself telling my Dog all about them. He looks at me like he totally understands me and give me a big kisses. I can't help but give him a big hug and thank him for listening. The truth is I end up feeling so much better. dogs are such good listener. A found a friend who will protect me, listens to my sentimentals when no one wants to listen, he does not care how I look, he does not judge me. For him I am great, beautiful and nice. He taught me a lot of things such as loyalty, patience and responsibility. Iam responsible in every actions that he will do that why i need to be patient in teaching him manners. He is such a loyal friend. My comforter when I feel sad. My stress reliever. My pillow at night. He is also a good kisser... hahaha!!!

You may have many BEST FRIENDS but your dog only has ONE.

I know My Dog is my Best Friend because when I have problems, I don't have to go through them alone.
My little dog-
a heartbeat at my feet.
-Edwin Wharton

After a year of happiness and friendship with my dog... It is also bound to end.... My bestfriend died last October 20, 2013. Its gonna be 3yrs. since I lost my beloved bestfriend. Losing him succumb me to great sadness. I have lost a bestfriend. I have lost my happiness. But I realized I need to get myself back again, I know that my bestfriend does not  want me to see this way. I have read something about losing a dear dog in the eyes of a child. This is what it said: According to a child" People are born so that they can learn to live a good life- like loving everybody all the time and being nice. Well, dog already know how to do that, so they dont have to stay as long." I would wish that my best friend could live forever.

Until the last breath of my Best Friend... He still looks at me...
It's impossible to forget a dog that gave you so much to remember.
Now I adopted a new dog, she is a 11 yrs. old senior beagle.

Currently, Iam volunteering for an Animal Rescue Group. It is under CARA Welfare Phils., which is SAVE THE LAGUNA PITBULLS. It is a non profit organization that rescued 230 pitbulls in a dog fighting syndicate operated by Korean Nationalsin Laguna. Many of the pitbulls that was rescued were in poor health conditions with terribly malnourished with wounds inflicted during dog fighting, Today there at least 130 + pitbulls under the care. They are looking for homes where they can be adopted. If you cant adopt at least volunteer or donate. For more info you can visit http://helpsavethepitbulls.com/

This pictures were captured using only my phone. It would be a great help for these pitbulls if I could capture there faces in a much superior quality images. Maybe if I could take a good picture of them using the Huawei P9 there could be more chances of me sharing them online which will lead to more people to be aware of their existence and they would either adopt or at least donate. and Also I can capture the last years of my adopted beagle with great quality.

Huawei P9 camera is co-engineered with Leica. It has dual lenses that produces high quality photon and allow users to take amazing monochrome,slo-mo, colored, light painting among others. It is 5.2 inches with a dual 12MP primary camera and 8MP secondary camera.
